As part of huge cuts by the Conservatives all 22 Youth Centres across Dorset have lost their funding and face closure on September 1st.  I presented a 500 strong petition to the County Cabinet in January but the Conservatives failed to listen.

I believe this cut to such a vital service is an unacceptable way to treat our young people.  Lib Dem-run Dorchester Town Council has been at the forefront of helping our young people by running the hugely successful Skate Park.  We are now proposing to support the Dorchester Youth Centre with £30,000 and will work in partnership with volunteers to maintain this service.

Unfortunately, Crossways cannot provide that sort of money.  However, I will do my best to work with local volunteers to find a way to maintain this important local service.  A major community meeting will be held on Tuesday March 8th to try and find a way forward.
