Under Threat from Slurry Lagoons

So far this summer we’ve seen planning applications for new slurry lagoons on sites near Broadmayne and Puddletown and then Crossways.  In each case I have felt the proposed site is too close to nearby houses and not enough account has been taken of the smell and odours that could be generated.  In addition these proposals would require large amounts of slurry to be taken along very narrow pathways and country roads threatening the safety of walkers.  Furthermore transporting large quantities of slurry through villages is unacceptable.  For all of these reasons I have worked with local residents and the local Parish Council to oppose these plans.  The good news today is that all three plans have been withdrawn!  Hopefully more suitable sites can now be found at a fair distance from any residents.

without scientific knowledge I have lead campaigns which have successfully stopped a 500,000 gallon slurry lagoon at junction 42 of the m6 and a “2,000,000” one at Longtown , Cumbria.
the Longtown one was very fierce ..with extensive technical/medical arguments etc. Also Human Rights Act
I can give you planning application numbers ..plus longtown one went to Bristol appeal where the inspector decided upon a public inquiry. Two weeks ago the applicants gave in and withdrew. let me know if you need more 01228- 514969
