There’s good news as the County Council has agreed today to spend an extra £50,000 on cutting the grass verges this year. This is in response to many complaints about the lack of cutting in the last two years. A couple of extra work teams will be created to act as a flying squad to deal with areas where the cutting has been insufficient. In the next few weeks a way of reporting problems and managing these teams will be set up so that they are responsive to where the public tells the Council that there is a problem. From next year a new system of encouraging Living Verges is hoped to be introduced depending on the success of large scale trails running this summer.
