Save Our Saturday Bus Services

Dorset County Council has announced they are looking to remove all of their funding for Saturday bus services.  This will leave many people isolated and make it very difficult for shoppers and those who need to get to work and don’t have a car.  It will also inevitably harm local shops in Dorchester who will get fewer customers and therefore see their sales drop.  Many people have already contacted me with their concerns and I am launching a petition to get this decision changed before it is finally debated on November 6th.  The effected bus routes are the 1, 2, 6, 74, 74A, 101, 103, 104, 183, 212, 216, 307, 311 and 387.  If you want to sign the petition or collect signatures please e-mail me at andycanning@btinternet.com.  The proposed cuts also include the withdrawal of the 103 service leaving Owermoigne and West Stafford without a bus service.  I am working with local residents and Parish Councils to either save the 103 or get a replacement service by re-routing the 101.

I would find this very hard as I am experiencing ill health at the moment and some of my treatments for cancer take place on a Saturday ok I could use the dorset cars service but all the time I am able to get to the hospital without using community cars all the better . also what these transport people fail to realise is that crossways is primary old people who cannot walk to the station for transport also when its a bank holiday we will be without a bus service for three days
