WDDC Gives Go Ahead for Opportunistic Housing Development

Crossways Housing (1280x960)

This afternoon the Conservative-run District Council ignored the objections of local residents, the Parish Council and myself and gave approval for 49 new houses and 8 light industrial units to be built next to Oaklands Park.

Objectors made the point that this site is outside Crossways’ defined development boundary and so should be protected from housebuilding.  We also made the point that Oaklands Park is a peaceful place and should not be disturbed by building work and then the noise from a new housing estate.

Finally, we argued that more housing would put a strain on the local school, doctors surgery and the already busy roads.

All of this fell on deaf ears and shows yet again that the Conservatives on the District Council are out of touch, fail to listen to local residents and are too pro-development.
