I am pressing the County Council to help the residents of Martinstown, Winterbourne Abbas and Winterbourne Steepleton deal with the problems of flooding.  One of my first actions as a County Councillor has been to meet with senior Officers to press the case for action.  Already I have helped to get the Local Plan amended to give priority to developing a flood alleviation plan for these villages and an undertaking has been given for the riverbed along the South Winterbourne Valley to be cleaned out once a year.  Affected residents will also be given assistance to develop personal flood plans to protect their homes which could include waterproof barriers on doors and concreting in new ground floors.
