Dorchester and West Dorset Learn more

One of my major responsibilities is being Chairman of the Dorchester Transport and Environment Plan working group. We are developing plans that will result in a wide range of improvements for pedestrians and smoother traffic flows across the town as well as enhancing the town’s environment.
I am therefore particularly pleased that the first part of the DTEP plan has now been completed with new safer crossing points at Top O’ Town, a new crossing on the Bridport Road and the resurfacing of High West/East Streets.
Next will come a loading ban on lorries at busy times along the High Street and a new crossing of the Bridport Road in Old Poundbury.
Then in 2017 we should see the completion of the works to properly pedestrianise the whole length of South Street.
